As of September 2018, we’ll be accepting manuscripts that use any referencing style, from Harvard to hyperlinking. Our reasons for doing so are well summarised in articles like Why Are Publishers and Editors Wasting Time Formatting Citations?, Academic Citation Practices Need to Be Modernized and Citation Obsession? Get Over It. Our only stipulation is that referencing is consistent throughout any single manuscript.

While we’ll still accept contributions from authors using documentary-note styles like Oxford and Chicago, it should be noted that our website does not support footnotes and that this may affect the cosmetics of their manuscript’s publication. On account of this, referencing styles like APA, HLA, Harvard and hyperlinking are preferred.
